Care-leavers often experience poorer social and individual outcomes compared to non-care experience peers. Engaging in support services can improve outcomes. With the project advisory group members including care-leavers and multi-agency practitioners, and following interviews with care-leavers and multi-agency practitioners, we co-produced a practice model focused on creating an engagement framework and toolkit.

We conducted a scoping review of the international literature that reported on the enablers, barriers and / or outcomes from care-leavers engagement with services. The synthesis of results contributed to an initial logic model. We interviewed 21 care-leavers and conducted focus groups and interviews with a total of 30 multi-agency practitioners. Framework analysis was used to 1. Refine the initial logic model, and 2. Identify the enablers and barriers to, and outcomes from engagement with services. The practice model and toolkit were co-produced with the Project Advisory Group (PAG) members, including care-leavers and practitioners.
