Enabling artists to foster and further develop their artistic practice through learning and engaging with historical and contemporary (inter)national Avant Garde(s).

The Avant Garde(s) are often perceived as high-brow elitist modern art movements with little relevance to our daily cultural life or contemporary artistic practices. However, this misconception has been challenged by co-creating creative formats and artistic events with communities that take forward techniques and ideas of former Avant Garde(s).

Engagement with international, mostly German and Welsh Avant-Garde artists in film, theatre, art, music and performance, most prominently Christoph Schlignensief and Becca Group. Close collaboration wiht local artists directly translating or transforming historic examples into contemporary practices.

Artists were able further develop their artistic language and successfully applied for commissions and other funding income. Audiences gained opportunities to engage with heritage and challenging artistic techniques in workshops. Audiences were able to enjoy innovative performances otherwise not accessible in North Wales.
