Jamaica’s nomination of The Cultural and Natural Heritage of the Blue and John Crow Mountains for Inscription on the World Heritage List (2015) was successful resulting in UNESCO formally deciding to inscribe the site in the list in 2015 (https://whc.unesco.org/en/decisions/6357).

The primary text of the nomination file (https://whc.unesco.org/uploads/nominations/1356rev.pdf) draws heavily on Bangor University’s collaborative research (predominantly with the University of Cambridge and cites three of our research outputs:
Goodland, T. and J.R. Healey. (1996). The Invasion of Jamaican Montane Rainforests by the Australian Tree Pittosporum undulatum. School of Agricultural and Forest Sciences, University of Wales, Bangor, UK.
McDonald, M.A., A. Hofny-Collins, J.R. Healey and T.C.R. Goodland.( 2003). Evaluation of Trees Indigenous to the Montane Forest of the Blue Mountains, Jamaica for Reforestation and Agro-forestry.
Tanner, E. V., Kapos, V., & Healey, J. R. (1991). Hurricane effects on Forest Ecosystems in the Caribbean. Biotropica, 23 (4a), 513-521.

Furthermore a key component of the nomination file is the Management Plan for the Blue and John Crow Mountains National Park (2011-2016), which makes even heavier reference to Bangor’s collaborative research citing the following four of our research outputs:
Goodland, T. & J.R. Healey. 1996. The invasion of Jamaican Montane Rainforests by the Australian Tree Pittosporum undulatum. School of Agricultural and Forest Sciences, University of Wales, Bangor, UK.
Healey, J.R. & Hall, J.B. 1994. The Impact on Forest Biodiversity of an Invasive Tree Species and the Development of Methods for its Control. Annual Report 1993-4 ODA Project R4742, School of Agricultural and Forest Sciences, University of Wales, Bangor.
McDonald, M et al. (2001). Contour Hedgerows of Calliandra calothyrsus Meissn. for Soil and Water Conservation in the Blue Mountains of Jamaica
