This concluding chapter offers a synthesis of the central themes explored throughout the Handbook on third-wave psychotherapies, highlighting their development and continued evolution, research evidence, theoretical underpinnings, and diverse adaptations. First a chapter-by-chapter summary is offered of the research evidence underpinning each of the third-wave psychotherapies included in this Handbook. Second, a chapter-by-chapter summary of the diverse adaptations of third-wave psychotherapies is offered. Finally, the chapter also considers challenges, such as therapist training, technological innovation, and expanding accessibility, while identifying future directions for research and clinical practice.
