Crynodeb

Polymer composites are finding substantial application in the most diverse engineering fields. Use of polymers and synthetic fibres in large structural composite developments consume several tonnes of material. End-of-life scenarios of composite structures is a major issue in the composite industry due to current norms of environmental policies and impending waste management legislation. Scientist are evaluating new methods and techniques to recycle structural composites. Current article addresses the recycling of glass fibres from a composite structure and regenerating glass fibre functionality through surface treatments. In the present study, bonding between recycled glass fibre and polyester resin are evaluated through experiment approach called microdroplet test. Results demonstrate strong effect on fibre properties due to various surface treatments used for regenerating recycled glass fibre surface.
