Description

The European Symposia in Celtic Studies continue the series of five German-speaking symposia, which took place in 1992 (Gosen near Berlin), 1997 (Bonn), 2001 (Marburg), 2005 (Linz) and 2009 (Zurich). The First European Symposium in Celtic Studies was held in 2013 in Trier.
The European Symposia in Celtic Studies are organised on behalf of Societas Celtologica Europaea.
At the First European Symposium in Celtic Studies in Trier, SCE accepted an invitation by Prifysgol Bangor University to hold its second symposium at Bangor. Prifysgol Bangor University, established 1884, is located on the beautiful north Wales coast on the Menai Straits. With views of Snowdonia to the South and Anglesey to the North, its landscape setting is second to none. As one of the oldest and leading Universities in Wales, it has a long tradition of teaching and researching the history, archaeology, cultures and languages of Wales and the wider Celtic World. It also is the leading Welsh-speaking University in Wales, with many of its degree programmes not only available through the medium of English, but also the medium of Welsh.
As has been established by the earlier German-speaking Symposia and the First European Symposium in Celtic Studies, the Second European Symposium in Celtic Studies aims to bring together scholars from all sub-disciplines of Celtic Studies. Papers dealing with the languages, literature, culture, history, archaeology, music, religion and many other aspects of the wider Celtic World are warmly welcome, and we hope that the conference will provide an exciting and entertaining mix of different contributions from all these and more fields.
