Description
English title: "Globalization of legal culture - the contribution of popular media".The presentation at the session "“Herausforderungen der Globalisierung – Soziologische und rechtssoziologische Perspektiven”, organised by the Sociology of Law Section of the German Sociological Association was invited by the section chair. Content of the presentation: The popular media project an idealized image of US or "Western" justice to a world-wide audience. The typical message amounts to an endorsement of the court system, the legal profession and generally a liberal concept of law. The audience member is even assigned a role: in any legal conflict, they are supposed to mobilise the (state) law.
