QRA Field Meeting: Quaternary of Northumberland, Durham and Yorkshire

Description

This trip will visit Quaternary and Holocene sites over three days from the 17th to 20th of September. It will be based in Durham and will focus on:

· Middle Pleistocene glaciation of northern England;
· LGM glaciation of northern England, including the interactions between the Tyne Gap Ice Stream and the Scandinavian Ice Sheet;
· Dimlington Stadial glaciation, including ice stagnation in the Tyne Gap and the North Sea Lobe;
· Sea level change throughout the Pleistocene, including visits to raised beaches;
· Interglacial environments and archaeology, including stone circles and Neolithic communities.
