Description
I have been invited to present the German case at the Featured Session "Mapping the Current State at Socio-legal Studies II". My presentation covered the range of disciplines in the field and the different approaches taken to be heard by legal scholars. The Ehrlich-Kelsen debate and its historic effect was a key which has disadvantaged Sociology of Law. Lawyers have later taken a range of views how socio-legal studies can be integrated into the study of law. This ranges from the view that they are an integral part of a combined legal science, to being an "auxiliary", to not being relevant at all. The presentation also covered the problems of finding secure institutional ground for socio-legal studies at German universities.| Period | 11 Sept 2018 |
