We conducted a six-week online teacher training
course for tutors associated with the Confucius
Institutes at Bangor, Cardiff, Trinity St. Davies
universities, and the British Council. Throughout
the course, all tutors successfully completed 24
hours of Continuing Professional Development,
consisting of 12 lectures and 12 hours dedicated
to reflection and teaching practice.
The course covered a range of crucial topics,
including:
Overview of Mandarin teaching in Wales and
teacher professionalism
Practical strategies for behaviour management in
UK schools
Embracing diversity: effective differentiation in
Mandarin lessons
Curriculum design and engaging activities in
Mandarin lessons
Assessment for Learning
The training aimed to enhance tutors’ expertise in
delivering Mandarin lessons effectively, catering to
diverse student needs while ensuring professional
growth and development.
