Transnational Education (TNE) Collaboration Visit: Dr. Yomna Moussa (The British University in Egypt)

As part of the British Council-funded project, "Sustainability in pharmacy teaching and practice: a bridge towards TNE cooperation," Bangor University's North Wales Medical School hosted Dr. Yomna Moussa from The British University in Egypt (BUE) to advance collaborative initiatives in pharmacy education and research.

The multi-day visit focused on integrating advanced pedagogical technologies, embedding sustainability into practice, and scoping future structural partnerships between the two institutions:

Digital & Immersive Learning Integration: The team explored the incorporation of digital learning solutions like LearnSci within Bangor's simulated pharmacy ("Fferyllfa") to build contextualized quantitative skills. Additionally, the visit featured an evaluation of a VR aseptic manufacturing simulation—in collaboration with Azize Naji (CEO, Goggleminds) and Chris Goodwin (Senior QC Analyst, Betsi Cadwaladr UHB)—to plan its dual deployment in the BU and BUE curricula.

Sustainable Research Infrastructure: Alongside Dr. Sherif Hamdallah and Prof. Stephen Doughty (Head of NWMS), the delegation toured Bangor's research and teaching facilities, focusing on actionable ways to embed sustainability at the core of joint pharmaceutical science research.

TNE Programme Expansion: Foundational discussions were held with Joanna Edwards (NWMS Director of Teaching and Learning) regarding further curriculum alignment. This serves as an exploratory seed for developing a comprehensive, long-term TNE degree partnership.

Future Grant Strategy: The visit concluded with strategic planning to secure further funding, specifically scoping two additional grant applications to strengthen cross-border cooperation and expand joint sustainability initiatives.
