Baby Boomer Generation

Description

Braf iawn oedd ymuno â Dros Ginio ar BBC Radio Cymru heddiw i drafod cenhedlaeth y Baby Boomers a’u dylanwad ar gymdeithas Cymru a Phrydain.

Mae hon yn genhedlaeth sydd wedi byw drwy gyfnod eithriadol o newid. O’r gwaith ailadeiladu ar ôl yr Ail Ryfel Byd a datblygiad y wladwriaeth les, i ddad-ddiwydiannu, seciwlareiddio a chymdeithas fwy amrywiol ac aml-ddiwylliannol, mae’r wyth deg mlynedd diwethaf wedi trawsnewid ein cymdeithas.

Buom yn trafod datblygiad sefydliadau fel y **GIG a thai cymdeithasol**, twf perchnogaeth tai a ffyniant economaidd, ond hefyd newidiadau mawr ym myd gwaith, bywyd teuluol a gwerthoedd cymdeithasol.

Roedd hefyd gyfle i edrych ar rai o wrthddywediadau’r cyfnod – gan gynnwys tlodi ac anghydraddoldeb, a’r gwahaniaethau rhwng profiadau’r cenedlaethau.

Mae edrych yn ôl ar brofiadau’r Baby Boomers yn ffordd ddiddorol o ddeall nid yn unig sut mae ein cymdeithas wedi newid, ond hefyd rai o’r heriau sy’n wynebu cenedlaethau heddiw.

Great to join **BBC Radio Cymru’s Dros Ginio** today to discuss the **Baby Boomer generation** and its influence on Welsh and British society.

This is a generation that has lived through an extraordinary period of change. From post-war reconstruction and the development of the welfare state to deindustrialisation, secularisation and an increasingly diverse and multicultural society, the past eight decades have transformed the world around us.

We discussed the development of institutions such as the **NHS and social housing**, rising home ownership and economic prosperity, alongside major changes in work, family life and social values.

There was also an opportunity to consider some of the contradictions of this period – including poverty and inequality, and the very different experiences of different generations.

Looking at the experiences of the Baby Boomers helps us understand not only how our society has changed, but also some of the challenges facing generations today.
