    Description of the underpinning research

My contribution was informed by my research into the 'democratic deficit' in the Welsh press, particular interviews with editors and journalists in online Welsh language news and a quantitative of these website's statistics. The impact was also informed by my own expertise as a journalist working in print and digital journalism in Wales.

    Beneficiaries and reach of impact

The objective of this impact was to influence and inform the debate surrounding attempts to bolster the public sphere in Wales, particularly in relation to matters devolved to the National Assembly for Wales from the UK Government. Those affected include elected Assembly Members who are in the process of collecting information regarding how the Welsh Government can take steps to strengthen the public sphere in Wales, and other studying the field.
