    Impact: Cultural

    Description of impact

This is an Bangor ESRC IAA-funded project for the Creative Practitioner in Residence category, which I worked on with Creative Practitioner Gillian Brownson. The project involved raising engagement in catch-up literacy groups in a local secondary school - Ysgol Aberconwy - by using my research on the Holy Grail as an inspiration, as well as the Arthurian Collections in the Centre for Arthurian Studies, transformed through the creative and performative work done by Gillian.

Impact Summary for the General Public

Raising literacy levels in secondary school pupils through the Holy Grail and Arthurian legends - from manuscript to video story

    Description of the underpinning research

The work was based on my numerous publications on the origins and development of the Arthurian Holy Grail - including my forthcoming 'Spiritual Malory' chapter in the new Companion to Malory, ed. Megan Leitch and Cory James Rushton (Boydell, 2019).
