Marie completed her PhD at Bangor University in 2013. Her doctoral thesis, Marital Property Agreements, The Family and The Law: Status and Contract? explored the role of marital property agreements within the wider context of Family Law, autonomy, and regulation. The research was supervised by Dr Osian Rees (Bangor University) and examined by Professor Rebecca Probert (Warwick University).
She holds an LLM (Distinction) from Staffordshire University (2009), where she developed expertise in Family Law and Medical Law. Marie also completed an accelerated LLB (Hons) through Staffordshire University’s two‑year fast‑track programme in 2008.
