I am a lecturer in agroforestry, either leading or contributing to a range of forestry, agroforestry, and woodland conservation modules at both MSc and BSc level, as well as supervising student dissertations. I am also the Course Director for the MSc Tropical Forestry and MSc Environmental Forestry programmes, and work closely with students and colleagues to support high-quality teaching and research in agroforestry and forest sciences.

Before joining academia, I spent 14 years with Natural Resources Wales (formerly the Environment Agency), where I worked in ecological monitoring, pollution prevention, and conservation management. This practical background shaped my doctoral research within the Multi-Land project, which examined the role of trees in Natural Flood Management (NFM). My research interests now centre on soil function, hydrology, and carbon dynamics—particularly in relation to trees and land use.

I currently co-supervise a doctoral temperate rainforest project exploring effective rainforest restoration methods for challenging site conditions, and how these influence carbon sequestration and biodiversity recovery over time.

I also lead on equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) within the Forestry Group at the School of Environmental and Natural Sciences. As part of this, I am proud to lead the Foresters of the Future project. This initiative aims to inspire and engage young people—particularly those from under-represented and disadvantaged backgrounds—by offering a residential summer camp experience that uses the outdoors as a space for learning, dialogue, and personal growth. The camp will run annually over three years, providing opportunities for participants to explore forestry and connect with the natural world.
