My research focuses on performance psychology and specifically supporting elite athletes. I am particularly interested in performance anxiety and understanding aspects of how individuals can succeed in sporting competitive environments. This includes creating up to date models and measurement of performance anxiety so we can accurately test theory and support athletes in pressured settings. I am also interested in the relationship between performance anxiety and personality as well as how social media usage impacts athletes’ performance anxiety.
I also have research interests in understanding the prevalence and types of mental health in elite athletes, including how to support athletes in high performance environments. I also conduct research in athlete psychological development, disability sport, and bilingualism in sport.
