Overview

He is a Lecturer in Finance and Data Analytics here at Bangor University and Head of the Institute of European Finance’s “Data Analytics and Financial Innovation” research group.

His current research is focused on:

  1. Modelling dynamic systems to explore how they respond to regulatory and external changes,
  2. Retail investor behaviour
  3. Labour Economics
  4. Predictive data analytics in a variety of business settings to enhance decision making.

He also has research interests in: Labour Economics, Data Analytics, Stock Recommendations, Credit Ratings, Regulation and policy impact. He is also an active member of the IEF's "Credit Risk" research group.

His background includes:

  • Head of Data and Analytics at a Financial Technology start-up analysing the performance of stock recommendations
  • PhD in Banking and Finance where he investigated the impact of new regulation on Credit Rating Agency and Bank behaviour and applied dynamic computer modelling to the task (Dynamic Structural Estimation modelling and Discrete Choice Dynamic Programming).
  • Held roles both as a data scientist and a mathematician/statistician.
  • The Alun Turing Institute’s Bangor Theme Champion for “Economy and Finance, Autonomous Systems”.
  • Undergraduate BSc (Hons) in Physics from University of Warwick.

Research

My current rearch interest are:

  • Modelling dynamic systems using a variety of dynamic modelling approaches
  • Financial institution (bank) behaviour and response to regulation
  • Retail investor behaviour
  • Labour economics
  • Predictive data analytics and its use and employment in industry to enhance business desicion making.

Other areas that I have explored include: credit ratings, Financial Institutions and Banks, Retail Investor Behaviour, Analyst Stock Ratings and Dynamic Structural Estimation Modeling.
