Personal profile

Research

From 2011 to 2021, I spent most of my time doing fieldwork, project management, and community-based land restoration. I am interested in nature-positive solutions for small-scale farmers that align ecological restoration with social resilience.

My PhD research focuses on the effectiveness of Forest Landscape Restoration interventions in Malawi. Integrating global monitoring tools with local actor perspectives to refine progress assessment and policy alignment in restoration efforts, bridging scientific innovation with locally driven solutions.

I previously researched gender dynamics in forest governance in my MSc Tropical Forestry Dissertation. I examined how the gender composition influences outcomes in community forest management, offering critical insights into inclusive natural resource governance in Malawi.

Teaching and Supervision

I demonstrate on the following MSc level modules: ENS 4310, Forest Inventory, Assessment & Monitoring; ENS 4318 Social Issues in Forest Management; DDL 4545 Tropical Forestry Study Tour. From 2022 to 2023, I co-supervised MSc student dissertation projects on linking Forest Restoration to Sustainable value chains using spatial datasets.

Personal

Beyond Academia since 2019, I have founded a land restoration, conservation, and extension enterprise in Malawi (Sustainable Farming Solutions). We work with small-scale farmers to restore degraded land through nature-based solutions and build a restorative economy that benefits both the people and the planet.

My work focuses on refining and scaling restoration models using data-driven technology that delivers measurable ecological and social benefits, particularly for women and small-scale farmers in the Global South.
