Employability is a key concern in STEM education, with many graduates facing challenges in transitioning into professional roles due to gaps in practical, transferable, and industryrelevant skills. To address this, embedding employability-focused learning into the curriculum is essential to ensure students develop technical competencies, critical thinking abilities, and professional attributes aligned with employer expectations.
This poster explores a pedagogical approach to employability by integrating:
-Laboratory and computational skills portfolios to align practical experience with industry standards.
-Work-based learning elements, including case studies, simulated workplace scenarios, and employer-led projects.
-Assessment strategies that reflect professional practice, such as reflective reports, industry style project briefs, and competency-based evaluations.
By incorporating these elements into core STEM modules, students gain hands-on experience, build professional networks, and develop career readiness within their academic journey. The approach also fosters self-directed learning, encouraging students to take ownership of their professional development from an early stage.
