Abstract
Dolgarrog:Atsain was designed for the exhibition 'Dolgarrog Past, Present and Future' commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Dolgarrog Dam Disaster. It uses the sound of the Dolgarrog church bell, which was heard tolling as it was swept into the night by the torrent on November 1925. This is combined with recordings made at the colossal, disused pipes that once carried water from the reservoirs to the aluminium and power plants, into which the names of the 16 who lost their lives are declaimed. When the rope is pulled the bell tolls, and the unusual echoes of the pipes stretch each name in time, echoing from past to present.
