Abstract

'Gair ar Gnawd' is a multilungual opera in One Act, lasting around 80 minutes. The libretto is by poet Menna Elfyn. There are sections in Welsh, English, Maltese and Hindu. The opera is scored for two soloists – Awen (soprano) and Anwar (baritone) – a semi-chorus of eight solo voices (SSAATTBB), a large community chorus, and ensemble comprising String Quintet, Saxophone, Piano, Keyboards and Percussion.
