Abstract

The American writer H. P. Lovecraft is one of the most important authors in the fields of horror, science fiction and fantasy. As with Orwell and Kafka, his style is so unique, original and influential as to lead to the coining of the adjective 'Lovecraftian' to describe fiction in the same genre.

His stories are full of mystery and excitement. They feature mysterious secrets lurking at the bottom of the sea... dark chambers deep underground... old books containing forbidden knowledge... and monstrous beings beyond the comprehension of mere mortals!

This collection is the first time Lovecraft's fiction has been made available in Welsh. It includes Galwad Cthulhu, (The Call of Cthulhu), that unforgettable story which introduced the world to the titular tentacled monster from the stars. The translator, Peredur Glyn, is the author of Pumed Gainc y Mabinogi and Cysgod y Mabinogi, original works in Welsh directly inspired by the work of H. P. Lovecraft.
