title = "Nomenclature for boranes and related species",
abstract = "An appraisal of the current IUPAC recommendations for the nomenclature of boranes and related systems has been undertaken. New developments in the field have been investigated and existing nomenclature systems have been adapted to accommodate these new developments. The principal areas considered are stoichiometric and structural nomenclature (including heteroatom and metal-atom subrogation, as well as substitution of hydrogen), conjoined-cage species, supra-icosahedral systems, and sub-icosahedral non-standard structures. Elements of substitutive, additive, and replacement nomenclature systems have been integrated into individual names to address contentious problems in boron nomenclature that have been around for a long time.",

note = "Updating the info on the Pure and Applied article I was describing below. I am coming back to you as it may be an important paper for REF/impact, it was accepted on 27/4/18 and again 7/8/18, and I am not sure when the clock starts ticking – I don{\textquoteright}t think it will be {\textquoteleft}finally accepted{\textquoteright} until Feb or so of next year. There is clearly no doi yet, so it may be better to hold off. Publishing in Pure and Applied Chemistry as an {\textquoteleft}official{\textquoteright} paper from IUPAC (International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry) in its official journal has been a convoluted process. Now it is accepted subject to public review and is available as a download from the website https://iupac.org/recommendation/nomenclature-for-boranes-and-related-species/. This version is also attached. It has changed from the last {\textquoteleft}accepted{\textquoteright} version, because of reviewers comments which needed addressing. The public review goes on until 31st December 2018 – I expect it will be published in 2019, but I have to take into account public review comments. Is this the {\textquoteleft}accepted version{\textquoteright} that you want? I will let you be the judge of that but it is published on line as {\textquoteleft} IUPAC Provisional Recommendations{\textquoteright} in the title and eventually it will become {\textquoteleft}IUPAC Recommendations{\textquoteright}.
