Abstract
Globally, a billion children are estimated to experience violence each year. Aiding efforts in prevention, WHO and partners developed the INSPIRE technical package, presenting seven evidence-based strategies to prevent and respond to violence against children. Many strategies focus on interventions that modify individual and interpersonal risk factors and less is known about policy and legislative approaches that influence the social determinants of violence against children. We conducted an umbrella review of reviews that examined the influence of policy and legislative approaches on violence against children or its social determinants (e.g. poverty, food security, housing stability, educational outcomes, parental mental health).
