Abstract

We invite submissions that provide brain focused insights into the representation and retrieval of concept knowledge from the perspective of multiple representation theories. In this opening editorial, we briefly emphasize the importance of neuroscientific evidence in evaluating multiple representation theories, outline existing brain-based models of conceptual knowledge, highlight recent behavioral insights that have yet to be systematically tested with neuroscientific methods and integrated into these models, and we offer suggestions in the form of several methodological strategies that we propose hold strong potential for yielding theoretical insights.
