Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapter

Abstract

“Anatomie d'une chute” aka “Anatomy of a Fall” (2023), directed by Justine Triet is one of the courtroom dramas fuelled by artistic ambition. It answers to previous exemplars of the genre, plays with its building blocks creatively and consequentially, has been mainly received as a masterpiece of filmmaking and acting. The setting of a French criminal court and of French pre-trial procedures creates a difference to standard courtroom dramas which mainly draw on the U.S. legal system. “Anatomy of the Fall” proves that the courtroom genre continues to be an important branch of the art of filmmaking.
