    Abstract

    An examination of the careers of the Welsh lawyers who practised before the civilian jurisdictions in London (those of the Church and the Admiral) during the sixteenth century, and questioning why so many Welshmen practised there. The article is based on the some of the entries commissioned from the author for the New Oxford Dictionary of National Biography.
