Although he never made a film about the Holocaust, Stanley Kubrick’s films contain related subtexts, a subject which lacks sufficient scholarly research. The thesis intends to build on existing research regarding to what extent Kubrick referenced the Holocaust throughout his canon, and question why he even avoided doing so at times. This will hopefully gain a better understanding of Kubrick, the prominent, canonical, and highly controversial auteur, whose films left an indelible impression. This study also aims to shed new light about the representation of the Holocaust through Kubrick’s various works of art and across many film genres.
