Universities often promote equality and diversity policies within student dominated environments. This study uses data from Bangor University students who are currently participating in university sports societies, and a representative from both the Student Services and Student Union. Research data was collected from May 2022 until August 2022. The mixed methods design enable comparison between online survey and interview data, drawing on student experiences and knowledge from representatives. Data from the intersectionality-based policy analysis challenges the effectiveness of Bangor University’s Student Harassment Policy. The result from the online survey shows the most common form of discrimination derived from gender identity. There is an indication disability and sexuality are also reasons for discrimination against students. The main type of harassment experienced by students is sexual harassment. The study recognised strengths and weaknesses Bangor University policies have and recommends ways the university can improve policies for the benefit of students.
