Dementia is a major public health concern because it is one of the leading causes of disability and dependency among older people worldwide. Its features include a progressive decline in cognition, memory, and all aspects of quality of life while maintaining a level of consciousness. The increased dependency and need for care associated with dementia pose a degree of challenge to their caregivers. The effects of supporting someone with dementia include physical injuries, discrimination and stigma, limited support from others, social isolation, psychological stress, and lack of proper sleep. Furthermore, assessments of dementia knowledge among health professionals and healthcare services provided to People living with dementia (PLWD) when visiting healthcare facilities are required to implement targeted interventions and supportive care for PLWD.
