Prof John Ashton
Professor John Ashton is a Professor of Banking at Bangor University. John’s research focuses on financial and economic regulation and the pricing of financial services. This research work has been reported in a diverse assortment of publications and media, ranging from policy and consultation papers for regulators, to the BBC, the Times Higher Educational Supplement and the Daily Star.
John is an academic panel member of the UK Competition and Markets Authority, is a Chartered Banking Fellow, is the Editor of the Journal of Financial Regulation and Compliance, has undertaken training for the Financial Conduct Authority and has made contributions to a diversity of policy fora in the UK and Europe in areas of financial regulation and payment systems. In addition to research work John teaches prudential regulation, personal finance, financial regulation and corporate governance, manages a range of international partnerships for his University, is an executive board member of the British Accounting and Finance Association and Chairs the Financial Markets and Institutions group within this academic society. Prior to his Academic career John worked in the Insurance sector.
