My PhD project is a CASE partnership with NOC Liverpool, it deals with studying the feedback processes and the interactions between the waves, the tides and the surges during storms in the UK, using coupled simulations. I am using a new state of the art three-way coupled numerical model developed by the MetOffice, which can combine a wave, an ocean and an atmosphere model together, in high resolution coastal domain. The aim is to understand how the coastal water level can vary during extreme event around the UK and how the spatial distribution of its component can vary and why that is so.
