Dr Ed Lord is a lecturer in public health at Bangor University. Prior to this he was a lecturer in mental health nursing at Swansea University for 5 years.
His research interests are informed by qualitative methodologies, specifically ethnography, and are focused on the intersection of social theory, space/place/environment, and mental health.
He completed an MSc by research in Geography and Social Theory prior to commencing a PhD in 2016. Ed’s PhD research was funded by a fellowship from RCBC Wales and explored the experiences of people taking part in ecotherapy as an intervention for mental health in South and West Wales. This PhD was awarded following successful viva examination in 2021.
Prior to his move into research and education Ed worked as a nurse in National Health Service (NHS) acute inpatient mental health settings in England and Wales for over a decade. Ed has undergraduate qualifications from the University of Nottingham (DipHE) and Bishop Grosseteste University, Lincoln (BA Hons).
