Special issue of The Journal of Jewish Identities on the subject of the influence of the Holocaust on Jewish identities and conversely, the influence of Jewish identities on perceptions and interpretations of the Holocaust, co-edited by Phyllis Lassner and Victoria Aarons, forthcoming January 2023.

The works of Stanley Kubrick, whether his photography, documentary or feature film, can be said to embody cultural expressions of Jewish Identities, the Holocaust and World War II. While Kubrick long sought to make a film about World War II and the Holocaust, he never succeeded. Nevertheless, allusions can be found in his work, both direct and indirect, in both the projects he completed and those he only planned but never realised. By exploiting the new research into Kubrick’s Jewishness (Abrams, Burton, Cocks, Grinberg, Mikics,) and combining it with newly available archival material, this article addresses "Aryan Papers," the Holocaust film project that Kubrick worked on but failed to complete between 1991 and 1993 and why it was never realized.
