N2 - Achieving sustainable development is impossible without addressing human rights as outlined by the World Bank. This means that infrastructure developments without the consideration, prevention, and redress of human rights abuses of workers and communities throughout the procurement process are counterproductive to the country's compliance with the SDGs. This chapter contributes to resolving this issue by examining the measures adopted by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the African Development Bank (AfDB) in promoting workers' human rights in the procurement of infrastructures funded by the donors. Underpinning this chapter is the question, to what extent does the ADB and the AfDB procurement regulations protect workers' rights in contracts awarded to Borrower countries?
