Copyright and intellectual protection can’t always answer the requirements of a niche music producer. This paper assesses methods niche producers and lone artists can implement to navigate copyright’s lack of provision to generate income and reap remuneration for creativity. Four potential solutions are addressed; firstly a technical solution to protect and offer a return on creativity, secondly reaffirmations of copyright law. The third solution considers a producer-regulated model, and finally using a P2P network as a marketing model that goes against previously accepted restrictions within the music industry.
