Obesity and a sedentary lifestyle are fast becoming major problems for not only the NHS as a whole but also the lymphoedema therapist. Lymphorrhea in this group of patients can be a recurrent problem, causing strain on already stretched services and on the patient and their family. What happens when the ideas of the patient and therapist regarding treatment are not the same? This article aims to address these issues by looking at a case study of such a patient, and the surprising outcome that resulted when the patient got his own way.
