N2 - Polarization switching in a long-wavelength VCSEL underparallel optical injection is analyzed in a theoretical andexperimental way. For the first time to our knowledge wereport experimentally a state in which injection lockingof the parallel polarization and excitation of the freerunningorthogonal polarization of the VCSEL aresimultaneously obtained. We obtain very simpleanalytical expressions that describe both linearpolarizations. We show that the power of both linearpolarizations depend linearly on the injected power insuch a way that the total power emitted by the VCSEL isconstant. We perform a linear stability analysis of thissolution to characterize the region of parameters inwhich it can be observed. Our measurementsqualitatively confirm the previous theoreticalpredictions
