Jean Monnet Scholarship Program, as one of Turkey’s longest and most prestigious project, have been carried out with an agreement between the Republic of Turkey and the European Commission in 1989.

Within the scope of the program, selected scholars are granted the right to do research or postgraduate studies in a university or equivalent institution in the EU member countries for a period of at least 3 to 12 months. Jean Monnet scholarships are allocated to studies on EU-related issues within the framework of Turkey’s EU harmonization process.

With these scholarships, knowledge about Turkey’s EU acquis is strengthened human resources, so that the acquis is to contribute to the creation of the necessary administrative capacity for effective implementation. Scholars have increased their competencies in the field that they study, and their perspectives on the functioning of the EU are expanding. Jean Monnet Scholarship Program also includes the development of civil society dialogue between Turkey and the EU, developing academic relationships between countries and building bridges between Turkish and European colleagues.
