The theme of this program was “Teaching Mandarin Chinese in UK”. The training programme included the following courses: PGCE course of Mandarin Chinese teaching in UK, UK Chinese Teaching in a Nutshell, Developing a Quality Teaching Force: Initial Teacher Education, Presenting and Practising Language, Input, Interaction and Output, Resources and Activities for Planning and Teaching Culture, Differentiation and Classroom Management, Classroom Monitoring- Principles and Practice, Progression and Transition. Keynote speakers included: Katharine Carruthers (UCL IOE Confucius Institute Director and Pro-Vice-Provost for East Asia), Zhu Xiaoming (National Network Coordinator, UCL IOE Confucius Institute and PGCE Tutor, UCL Institute of Education), Philippa Vallely (Teacher Training Coordinator, UCL IOE Confucius Institute), Kay McLeod (Mandarin Excellence Programme Coordinator, UCL IOE Confucius Institute), Victor Wu (Teacher Training and Professional Development Coordinator, UCL IOE Confucius Institute).
