Overview
Material Scientist, Wood Science PhD MIMMM, Innovation enthusiast, Experienced in Product Design & Development, Agilist #Passionate about Sustainable Materials, advanced bio-materials & Climate Change Mitigation
🌱 Passionate about the intersection of science and sustainability, I am a Material Scientist specializing in Wood Science. With a background encompassing a BSc in Wood Science and Furniture Design & Technology, followed by a PhD focusing on surface characterization and adhesion within the realm of wood science, I have cultivated a deep understanding of wood anatomy and its mechanical and chemical properties.
🔬 My expertise extends to diverse areas including volatile compound emissions, surface spectrophotometry, regression models analysis, and chemometrics. Over the years, I've contributed to various research and commercial projects across Europe, working closely with industries to ensure quality control and compliance with European and international standards.
🖥️ In addition to my academic pursuits, I possess proficiency in programming languages such as Python, and Arduino, utilizing them for multiphysics modeling and developing prototype research equipment. My experience in 2D/3D CAD architecture and industrial product design complements my technical skills, allowing me to approach product development holistically, from material properties to ergonomic design.
🌍 Committed to addressing climate change, I am particularly interested in leveraging timber and bioderived advanced materials for sustainable solutions, including CO2 capture and energy storage. As a member of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM3) and a BSI expert representing the UK in CEN and ISO, I actively contribute to shaping industry standards and best practices.
🚀 Certified in PRINCE2 Agile Foundation and Practitioner, as well as completing a course in management and leadership, I bring a blend of technical expertise and project management skills to drive innovation and positive change in an Agile way.
Let's connect and explore opportunities to collaborate on impactful projects!
