Overview
Dr. Cunqiang (Felix) Shi joined Bangor Business School in August 2023 after completing his Ph.D. in Business Studies at Cardiff University. His doctoral research delved into the profound impact of China's socio-economic transition over the past four decades on the position of disabled labour within the contemporary Chinese labour market. The significance of his findings is underscored by their extensive publication across various reputable sources.
Felix's primary research and scholarly interests lie in the sociology of work, diversity and inclusion initiatives within the UK labour market, the social construction of disability (utilizing the social model of disability), and social-cultural studies centred around East Asia, with a particular focus on China.
Furthermore, Felix has engaged with numerous external organizations, currently holding a position as a board member with Disability Wales – a prominent disability rights advocacy organization working closely with the Welsh Government. Additionally, he has contributed as a peer reviewer for the esteemed Social Inclusion journal.
