Overview

I am the Director of Initial Teacher Education and my main responsibilities are to ensure the maintenance and enhancement of the quality of work within the ITE programmes across the School of Education. I currently work with Welsh Government and the Education Workforce Council in Wales on initiatives to meet the ambitious reform agenda in education in Wales. I manage the validation and accreditation of all programmes that award Qualified Teacher Status. I am a peer ESTYN inspector for Initial Teacher Education and external moderator to a validated programme for PGCE at a partner Further Education Institution. I sit on an Welsh Government Advisory group for early years and have been involved in the development of curriculum resources for the early years sector. I am a registered and practising nursery inspector for ESTYN. 

Research

My main research interests are around the professional learning of teachers and teacher educators. My doctoral studies are on 'Exploring professional learning opportunities for school-based teacher educators in a collaborative partnership for Initial Teacher Education'. 

I am also involved in Early Childhood and Learning and the Development of 0-7 year olds. My Early Childhood Masters Degree is in Child-Initiated Learning in the Foundation Phase and I am particularly interested in child-initiated play, the child's voice and ownership of their own learning.
