Her doctoral research was focused on northern England, and the River Tyne sequences that developed post-glacially. She is interested in Quaternary environmental change and fluvial histories, including geoarchaeology, relict glacial environments, and flood risk and hazards. In addition, Lynda has research interests in the communication around climate change and cultural heritage and climate risks, geographies of education, inclusion and accessibility in geosciences, and the use of virtual technologies to enhance learning.

From May 2023 to March 2024, she was PI on the NERC-funded Growing Roots Environmental Science Public Engagement 'Shore to Shelter' grant. She was also awarded a Learned Society of Wales Research Workshop grant (ClicherNet4Wales) in March 2023.
