Overview
I am currently completing my MScRes research project in the area of phytoremediation, concerning microplastics and their absorbed contaminants in freshwater ecosystems.
The aim of the project is to test the biochemical bioremediation of microplastic (low density polyethylene and a biodegradable plastic film), the 14C plastic additive Dibutyl phthalate (plasticiser) and herbicide trifluralin via microbes from freshwater sediment, duckweed (Lemna minor) and freshwater.
