Absolute stability concerns the feedback interconnection of two causal systems: one being linear time-invariant, and the other belonging to a specific class. Its study has been the source for many important results in systems theory from the Popov criterion and so-called KYP Lemma in the 1960s through to applications of Integral Quadratic Constraint theory in the present day.
