N2 - The main topic of this paper is analysis of Polača’s natural resources with emphasis on valorization through history, today and in the future. Apart from analysing the existing literature, the key methodology was the usage of modern computer softwares for spatial data visualization (GIS). Such methodology significantly simplified the path to some key conclusions of this work. Polača is located in the central part of dinaric elongated area of Ravni kotari. It is territory of relief with hilly characteristics, where valleys are very important because of flow accumulation and development of soil types that are appropriate for agriculture. During the history hills of Polača’s area were also useful in many views, but today less. Like general hydrological characteristics of Ravni kotari area, in Polača there is also a problem of surface water loss in the underground, what is among basic characteristics of karst dominated area. From climatic standpoint, the main climate types are Csa and Cfa. Because of lack of surface water and strong heat during the summer, an intensive agriculture is not possible here. So, it is crucially important for people of this area to use water from wider environment such as Vrana lake and Nadin quagmire, which are generally very important natural factors of Polača’s agricultural development and maintenance of that tradition until today.
