Laurence Williams is in a better position than most to report on the progress that has been made in the UK. Until 2008, he was the Chief Engineer of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority and here he sets the background to the tasks facing the UK nuclear industry and the progress made in decommissioning and clean-up.
