Reactions in Wales to the recent Home Office guidelines, advising parents with different surnames to their children to bring extra documentation with them to the airport, and that they may be asked additional questions to prove the relationship to their children. My contribution drew on my recent peer-reviewed journal article 'Enwau Prydeinig Gwyn', highlighting the fact that the fixed surname naming tradition is a specifically Anglo-Saxon practice, whilst other cultural naming traditions, particularly indigenous Welsh ones, are very different.
